OBJECTIVE

This Master is particularly designed for those who wish to learn all the processes involved in managing a translation project, and further study applied computing, software localization, revision and rewriting, and terminology. There is also a possibility, for those that wish to, to learn how to work as a translator in a company or organization through work experience.

METHODOLOGY

-  Simulation of work situations.

-  Quality control procedure.

-  Use of new technology in information and communication.

-  The course focuses on a computerized language service involving theses in translation, basic computer skills, internet, information services, terminological data bases etc.).

TEACHING STAFF

The staff include graduates or Ph. D. holders with teaching and professional experience, company directors, sworn translators and court interpreters, terminologists, project managers, translators for international or EU institutions.

CONTENT

The programme consists of 63 credits* for one language (English or French) and 73 credits* for two languages (English or French). It is made up of the following modules:

 Módules Crédits*
Specialized translation/language: scientific-technical and legal-economic  10 cr.
Applied computing 7,5 cr.
Software localization   5,5 cr.
Revision and translation of Community documents    6 cr.
Linguistic resources    6 cr.
Technical writing: instruction books, manuals, technical reports etc 5 cr.
Internal and external work experience   23 cr.

COURSE LENGTH

 The course lasts 25 weeks (depending on the level of the student and the internal and external work experience), plus 6-8 weeks of internal work experience between October and June and 12 weeks of external work experience. The classes are from Monday to Friday from 16.00 to 20.00 at Cluny-ISEIT,  Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid).

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Degree or equivalent and entrance exam. The entrance exam takes place as of April. There are a limited number of places on the course.
